MAYOR GOODWIN URGES, IN LETTER, US POSTMASTER GENERAL DEJOY TO RECONSIDER TRANSFER OF USPS FACILITY’S MAILING PROCESSES

(Charleston, W. Va.) –Mayor Amy Shuler Goodwin today spoke with representatives from the local American Postal Workers Union 133 regarding the proposed transfer of the USPS Charleston Processing and Distribution Center at Southridge Center processes to Pennsylvania and sent a letter to US Postmaster General Louis DeJoy urging reconsideration of the transfer which is part of a proposal being examined as part of the Mail Processing Facility review program.

Mayor Goodwin further expressed her support for maintaining the current operations of the facility at Southridge Center and ensuring families are not left without jobs, “The current proposal being reviewed would not only eliminate jobs that our families need, but also negatively impact our local economy,” said Mayor Amy Shuler Goodwin. “The City of Charleston fully support major investments into the facility that will modernize it to best support the people of our city and our state.”
