Mayor Amy Shuler Goodwin today announced 14 Opioid Settlement Grants, totaling $540,000, have been awarded to local organizations. Administered in partnership with the United Way of Central West Virginia and guided by the Opioid Community Council, the grants invest opioid settlement funds in evidence-based treatment, prevention, and recovery initiatives aimed at reducing the impacts of substance use disorder and supporting individuals and families across Charleston.
The City of Charleston will host the 2025 Charleston Christmas Parade: Tinsel Town on Thursday, December 11 at 7 p.m. in downtown Charleston. The City of Charleston Parks and Recreation Department announced registration is open for the 17th Annual Charleston Winter Series. The race series includes a 5k run/3k walk on December 14, 2025, an 8k run/4k walk on January 18, 2026, and ends with a 10k run/5k walk February 15, 2026.
