LIVE ON THE LEVEE OPENING CONCERT TO FEATURE SANTA CRUZ & THE UNIT

The City of Charleston kicks off the 16th season of Live on the Levee Friday, May 24 at Haddad Riverfront Park. The Unit will take the stage beginning at 6:30 p.m. with headlining act Santa Cruz to follow. Opening-night fireworks will take place immediately following the show.

The Unit plays music from several genres and eras of music. The band consists of six core members: Allen Smith of Athens on lead guitar; Chris Stewart of Beckley on bass guitar; Matthew Austin of Louisville, KY as the lead singer; Jonathan Wesley of Charleston on keys; Michael Austin of Charleston on saxophone and Stephen Austin of Charleston on drums. 

With their outstanding vocal harmonies and high energy, Santa Cruz performs renditions of pop hits from every decade. The popular group plays a wide variety of music from the 70s and 80s, especially the disco and Motown hits, as well as today's most requested top 40.

Food and retail vendors will be set up along the boulevard all 15 weeks of Live on the Levee.
