LIVE ON THE LEVEE FIREWORKS TO AFFECT TRAFFIC FRIDAY NIGHT

Live on the Levee, happening downtown on Friday, August 30, will affect traffic on both sides of the Kanawha River. Starting at 5:30 p.m., Kanawha Boulevard will be closed between Capitol Street and Clendenin Street. Streets will remain closed until City crews are able to complete their cleanup of affected areas following the fireworks show.

Traffic on the south side of the river will be affected during the fireworks.  MacCorkle Avenue will be closed between Porter Road and U.S. 119, starting at 6:00 p.m. Thayer and Ferry Streets, the South Side Bridge and Loudon Heights Road between the South Side Bridge and Grosscup Road will also close at 6:00 p.m. in preparation for the fireworks show. Pedestrian and vehicle traffic will be prohibited on MacCorkle Avenue within the road closure for the safety of citizens and event staff.

Live on the Levee will begin at 6:30 p.m. with food, beverage and retail vendors lining the Kanawha Boulevard. Headliner Fletcher’s Grove and opening act Bad Key of the Mountain will perform from the Schoenbaum Stage at Haddad Riverfront Park. Fireworks will begin at approximately 9:30 p.m.
