STREET CLOSURE/DETOUR/PARKING NOTICE: Charleston Christmas Parade

(Charleston, W. Va.) – The City of Charleston will host the 2022 Charleston Christmas Parade Thursday, December 15 at 7 p.m.  The following street closures and detours will be in place.

3:30 p.m.

Kanawha Boulevard, from Greenbrier Street to Clendenin Street, will be closed. One lane, from Greenbrier Street to Morris Street, will be open for local traffic. Local traffic will be required to exit the Boulevard at Morris Street.

6 p.m.

The Parade Route – including lineup and exit areas—will be closed to traffic.  This includes:

• Kanawha Boulevard from Morris Street to Capital Street (lineup area).
• Capitol Street, from Kanawha Boulevard to Washington Street
• Washington Street, from Capitol Street to Summers Street
• Summers Street, from Washington Street to Kanawha Boulevard.
• Kanawha Boulevard from Summers Street to Clendenin Street (parade exit area).

No entry or exit will be permitted at:

• Capitol Street and Virginia Street
• Capitol Street and Quarrier Street
• Capitol Street and Lee Street
• Capitol Street and Washington Street
• Summers Street and Washington Street
• Summers Street and Lee Street
• Summers Street and Quarrier Street
• Summers Street and Virginia Street

Detours will be in place at:

• Laidley Street and Virginia Street
• Laidley Street and Lee Street
• Laidley Street and Washington Street
• Donnally Street and Summers Street
• Donnally Street and Capitol Street
• Washington Street and Dickinson Street
• Hale Street and Quarrier Street

Re-Opening of Streets

The Parade Route and associated street closures will re-open following the conclusion of the parade.

Parking will be available in following City Parking Garages on a first come, first served basis:

• Park Place Cinema, 612 Washington Street
• City Service Center, 915 Quarrier Street
