The Charleston Equipment Maintenance Department strives to provide quality fleet management, equipment repair and safe vehicles so that the City of Charleston is thoroughly equipped to serve its citizens; to seek new and innovative ways to improve the quality and cost of our services by using the latest technology and methods to keep pace with the industry and our service needs.

The Charleston Public Grounds Department strives to improve the quality of life for residents of, and visitors to, the City of Charleston through design, installation and maintenance of public plantings, the public spaces in which they are located and all site amenities located therein; to seek out public spaces in need of improvement; to seek input from the City's residents and their elected representatives and to present opportunities for aesthetic and functional improvement to the Municipal Beautification Commission for their consideration.

The Charleston Refuse & Recycling Department strives to provide the City of Charleston's residents with a cost efficient garbage collection and to encourage and promote the reuse and recycling of metals, paper and yard waste materials.
