$540K IN OPIOID SETTLEMENT GRANTS AWARDED TO 14 LOCAL INITIATIVES

Mayor Amy Shuler Goodwin today announced 14 Opioid Settlement Grants, totaling $540,000, have been awarded to local organizations. Administered in partnership with the United Way of Central West Virginia and guided by the Opioid Community Council, the grants invest opioid settlement funds in evidence-based treatment, prevention, and recovery initiatives aimed at reducing the impacts of substance use disorder and supporting individuals and families across Charleston.

KNOW BEFORE YOU GO: 2025 CHARLESTON CHRISTMAS PARADE

The City of Charleston will host the 2025 Charleston Christmas Parade: Tinsel Town on Thursday, December 11 at 7 p.m. in downtown Charleston. In preparation for the annual celebration, the City has compiled a detailed “Know Before You Go” guide for attendees, participants, and visitors and an interactive map.

MAYOR GOODWIN TO HOST OFFICIAL CITY TREE LIGHTING CEREMONY ON NOVEMBER 28 AT 6:30 P.M. DURING HOLLY JOLLY BRAWLEY

Mayor Amy Shuler Goodwin will kick off the holiday season with Charleston’s official City Tree Lighting Ceremony at City Center at Slack Plaza on Friday, November 28, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. The tree lighting is part of the fifth annual Holly Jolly Brawley celebration, a two-day holiday event that transforms downtown Charleston into a winter wonderland featuring more than 160 trees.
