City of Charleston Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Comprehensive Safety Action Plan
As part of the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) grant program, the City of Charleston is developing a Comprehensive Safety Action Plan. The plan will identify transportation safety priorities and recommend strategies to reduce traffic-related fatalities and serious injuries while making Charleston's streets safer and more accessible for everyone.
Our Goal: Reduce fatal and serious injury crashes by 25% every five years following implementation, with the long-term vision of eliminating all traffic fatalities and serious injuries in Charleston.
Community input is an important part of developing the plan. Whether you walk, bike, drive, or use public transportation, your experiences can help identify transportation safety concerns and shape future improvements. Your responses are anonymous and will be kept confidential.

By developing the Safety Action Plan, the City aims to:

- Support Livability: Support safer, more connected neighborhoods that enhance mobility, accessibility, and economic vitality.
- Position Charleston for Future Federal Funding: Developing a Comprehensive Safety Action Plan allows the City to pursue future SS4A implementation grants that can help fund transportation safety improvements.
