MAYOR GOODWIN ISSUES STATEMENT ON PASSING OF REVEREND JIM LEWIS
(Charleston, W.Va.) – Mayor Amy Shuler Goodwin issued the following statement regarding the passing of Reverend Jim Lewis.
“Reverend Jim Lewis, a faith leader, advocate, and respected member of the community lived a life that reflected a deep commitment to service and others. Reverend Lewis served as a minister at St. John’s Episcopal Church and was actively engaged in the community, advocating for causes in which he believed. His work changed lives and help shape Charleston into the city it is today. Beyond his service to the church, he dedicated his life to helping others, as founder of the Manna Meal program he established an initiative that continues to support individuals in need. His leadership and outreach extended across our city and beyond, leaving a meaningful and lasting impact on our city.
We are deeply saddened by the passing of Reverend Jim Lewis. His life was defined by service, compassion, and a dedication to the well-being of others. He will be remembered for the lasting contributions he made to the City of Charleston and for the many lives he impacted throughout his lifetime. We extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, congregation, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.”
