TRAFFIC ADVISORY PLAN AHEAD FOR THE UC MARATHON: ROAD CLOSURES & TRAFFIC INFO

(Charleston, W.Va.) – The University of Charleston Marathon will take place on Sunday, April 12, beginning at 7 a.m., bringing runners and spectators together across Charleston. Motorists traveling the morning of the race—especially those commuting across or near the race route—are encouraged to leave a little earlier than usual and plan alternate routes when possible.

Safety is the top priority. Motorists are asked to remain alert, watch for runners, and follow directions from law enforcement and event personnel along the course.

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • Most roads will be rolling closures, meaning roads will temporarily close as runners pass and will reopen once runners and event vehicles have passed.
  • Crossing the race route will be permitted. Motorists should follow instructions from officers and volunteers stationed along the course.
  • Driving along the race route will not be permitted while runners are present.
  • Some roads will be closed or restricted during the race.
