Mayor Amy Shuler Goodwin announced that the City of Charleston will be accepting applications for the 2026 Mayor’s Summer Youth Jobs Program (MSYJP), an initiative designed to provide young people with meaningful work experience, skill-building opportunities, and exposure to careers in public service.
The City of Charleston Office of Public Art recognized the winners of the Youth Arts 2026 City of Charleston during an awards ceremony held at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center. This year’s exhibition featured 162 works of art submitted by students from across Kanawha County, each evaluated by a panel of professional based on originality, creativity, overall design, and composition.

As the summer season approaches, the City of Charleston Parks and Recreation Department is recruiting lifeguards to help ensure a safe and enjoyable environment at the City’s pools. In partnership with Legendary Lifeguards, eligible applicants can receive free lifeguard certification as part of the City’s effort to recruit and train the next generation of lifeguards.
