2018 Charleston Police Department Junior Police and Leadership Academy

The Charleston Police Department is now accepting applications for enrollment into the department's Junior Police and Leadership Academy. This academy consists of a one week law enforcement program open to current 6th-8th graders attending middle school. Participants will meet each day at Capital High School. Drop off for parents is 7am-8am with class beginning promptly at 8 am. Classes will conclude at 4pm with parent pickup from 4pm-5pm.


The Junior Police and Leadership Academy will start Monday, July 16, 2018. It will continue through Friday, July 20, 2018. Each day, a different law enforcement topic will be presented with classroom and hands-on instruction by police officers to include obstacle courses, rappelling, first aid, crime scene investigations, team building exercises, and much more. This academy is offered free of charge to middle school students.

Seating is limited and preference will be given to Charleston residents. Applications are available at the Charleston Police Department (Public Services Division), at each middle school, or online at www.charlestonwvpolice.org and should be returned to the Police Department by May 8, 2018.
